Diversity of Talent

Since DiverseAbility was formed in 2001, we have built relationships with a diverse group of people who share our passion for increasing the diversity of corporations and the career opportunities for people with disabilities. These partners include Ford Motor Company, Dow Chemical Company, Center for Independent Living of Mid-Michigan, Michigan Rehabilitation Services, University of Michigan, Michigan State University, Wayne State University, Saginaw Valley State University, U-M-Dearborn, Calvin College, Delta College, and Henry Ford Community College.

Kathy McCreedy founded DiverseAbility in 2001, leaving a successful career as a research director at Dow Chemical Company to further the pursuit of her personal mission statement - to reaffirm the inherent value of every person everyday. She believes affirmation and development of employee talent is the cornerstone for success in any organization. The greatest moment in her 25-year corporate career was to be awarded the Genesis Award, Dow’s highest honor for excellence in people leadership. She has also worked for the Center for Independent Living of Mid-Michigan, leading a high school transition program. The Independent Living movement is a powerful influence for Kathy, reinforcing each person’s right to live independently, which includes the right to be paid fairly for meaningful work. Kathy received her Masters Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Michigan State University and is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC).

A significant contributor is Cathy McAdam, ACSW who started her own company in 1999, as a health care consultant focused on advocacy for assistive technology, and other disability issues. She and Kathy share a passion for the importance of leadership opportunities for individuals with disabilities, for the mutual benefit of both the individuals and the organizations they will lead. Cathy brings more than 20 years experience in rehabilitation medicine as a medical social worker. She is the chairperson for the Dearborn Commission on Disability Concerns and is leading a grant awarded to the Wayne County Community Assistive Technology Council to drive systemic change that will permanently improve access to assistive technology devices and services. Cathy received her Masters Degree in Social Work from Wayne State University and continues counseling through innovative telehealth services.

Another valuable contributor is Ginger, Cathy's loyal and frisky guide dog, who brings smiles to workshop participants and everyone she meets.
